50 burpees.....third time around

Last night was awful.  I barely slept due to a horrible migraine.  I'm allowing the stresses of life get to me and it's dragging me under.  Significant stress always seems to manifest itself into migraines for me.  Ugh!!

I didn't go to crossfit.  I instead took some medication and stayed in bed until it was just a mild headache.

After I felt better I decided to do what Derek told me to do a few months ago when I couldn't make it into the gym.  50 burpees.   I set my stopwatch and started.  I was able to complete 50 burpees in 6 minutes and 21 seconds.  Now this is the 3rd time I've timed myself doing 50 burpees.

April 26th ~  I completed 50 burpees in 11 minutes 51 seconds.

May 29th ~ 9 minutes 31 seconds

August 16th ~ 6 minutes 21 seconds

What a huge difference!!  I've almost cut my first time in half.  Woot woot!!    I followed the burpees with 10 minutes of kettle bell exercises.  I'm bummed I couldn't make it in today, but I'm proud of myself for at least doing something.

My goal for this weekend is just try to let go of the things in my life that I can't control.  My health is more important than stressing over every little thing.

Have a happy and healthy weekend!

50 burpees......second time around

Our Memorial Day weekend was busy.  Hubby and I spent all three days outside setting our patio.  The weather was finally cooperating.  The bricks we used were 25 lbs each and the sand bags were 50 lbs each.  We set about 1/3 of the patio before my husband decided he didn't like how it was turning out.  We then tore apart everything we had set and started over.  I calculated that I hauled a little over 10,000 pounds of bricks and sand during those 3 days.  I would get in a squat stance when picking up the bricks and sand.  I hurt my back about 13 years ago and I have to be really careful when I carry anything heavy.  All I know is I got killer workouts in on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  I took a break on Tuesday.  My body needed to recover.  I was so sore and I could tell that my energy levels were totally depleted.

Today is Wednesday....a normal CrossFit day.  Instead of going to class I did 50 burpees at home.  I have to attend a performance at my son's elementary school and it's super important to him that I be there.  I timed my 50 burpees just like I did last time.  I finished 50 burpees in 11 minutes and 51 seconds last time.  Today I was able to get through them in 9 minutes and 31 seconds.  That's almost 2 and a half minutes faster!!  I was beyond shocked to see how much time I was able to shave off.  Now last time I did 50 burpees I also did a small kettlebell workout and my coaches were not happy with me.  They lectured me that "less is more".  So, I'm going to heed their advice and not stress about doing more.  I might take a nice leisure walk with my hubby after dinner though.

My crossfit is closed the rest of this week.  They're packing up and heading to the CrossFit Regionals to support the other crossfitters.

I will do another at home workout on Friday and will resume my classes at the box next week.

My goal for the rest of this week is to stay on top of my hunger so I can continue to make smart and healthy choices.  I will weigh in and measure on June 1st and will report my findings.

50 Burpees in 5 minutes

I emailed my trainer last night letting him know I couldn't make it in again today because my daughter is still too sick.  I shared with him the workouts I created for myself on Monday and Wednesday and asked if he had any suggestions on something I could do at home for Friday.  He wrote back and told me to try and do 50 burpees in under 5 minutes and if I could do that, then to do 25 more.

I set the stop watch on my phone and got started.  I finished 50 burpees in 11 minutes and 51 seconds.  Not even close to the 5 min mark and they were modified burpees even.  Ugh!  I suppose at least I know what my time is and I can just keep working on trying to beat it.

After the burpees I felt like I had more to give, so I ended up doing 3 rounds of:

10 right 15lb kettle bell snatches

10 left kettle bell snatches

10 sit ups

After I finished my three rounds I decided to do those last 25 burpees even though I wasn't able to do the first 50 in 5 minutes.  Those last 6 were brutal.

I can't believe how drenched I was afterwards.  I feel so good and I'm really happy that I pushed myself to finish.

I'm looking forward to taking a break this weekend.  We'll be attending my grandmother's funeral tomorrow.  The weather should be just gorgeous.

What I plan on eating today:

Breakfast/post workout meal~chocolate protein shake

snack~apple w/ almond butter

Lunch~salad w/ pork tenderloin and a homemade dressing

Dinner~grilled chicken and sausages, side salad, roasted asparagus
