"to the pain"

Anyone know this quote?  "to the pain"   It's from my most favorite movie, The Princess Bride.

Humperdinck: First things first, to the death.
Westley: No. To the pain.
Humperdinck: I don't think I'm quite familiar with that phrase.
Westley: I'll explain, and I'll use small words so that you'll be sure to understand, you warthog-faced buffoon.
Humperdinck: That may be the first time in my life a man has dared insult me.
Westley: It won't be the last. "To the pain" means the first thing you lose will be your feet, below the ankles, then your hands at the wrists. Next, your nose.
Humperdinck: [losing his patience] And then my tongue, I suppose. I killed you too quickly the last time, a mistake I don't mean to duplicate tonight.
Westley: I wasn't finished! The next thing you lose will be your left eye, followed by your right —
Humperdinck: [exasperated] And then my ears. I understand! Let's get on with it-
Westley: WRONG! Your ears you keep, and I'll tell you why: So that every shriek of every child at seeing your hideousness will be yours to cherish. Every babe that weeps at your approach, every woman who cries out, "Dear God, what is that thing?" will echo in your perfect ears. That is what "to the pain" means. It means I leave you in anguish, wallowing in freakish misery forever.

Today's workout was "to the pain".  Well...........it was close.  haha

Our warm up was getting into groups of 3 and while 1 person rows 250 meters, the other two are doing junkyard dog.  We each took a turn.  I must say, that was the fastest I've ever rowed in my life!  I was able to row at a pace of 1:51.....which is a far cry better that was I used to row which was 2:35.

Our skill set was a killer!

4 rounds

10 left handed lateral kettlebell swings

10 right handed lateral kettlebell swings

10 left handed regular kb swings

10 right handed regular kb swings

10 kb power cleans (using two bells)

1 minute native squat while holding a kettle bell

FOUR FREAKING ROUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!   Sweat was pouring off my body.  There was a disgusting amount of sweat on the floor all around me.  Everything burned, my muscles were tapped out!

Our WOD was hard as well.

10 manmakers (BARF BARF BARF these are so hard!)

20 pull ups ( I did ring rows)

800 meter run

20 pull ups

10 more manmakers

I ran 700 out of the 800 meters.  HUGE accomplishment for me!  Especially after how tired I was.  BUT I did it!!  I kept up with the group and finished the workout.  It feels amazing!  I did cry on the way home though.  I know I pushed myself to my very limit.  Those last few manmakers had me grunting and groaning.  It took every last bit of energy I had to get them done.

I'm not sure what exercise I'm going to get in tomorrow, but it'll be something easy going and not too strenuous.  I hope Friday's WOD isn't as hard as today's was.  OY!

Endurance!!

It's been a few days since I've blogged.  I've been taking advantage of the gorgeous weather to do all my planting.  I got a ton of flowers planted and started a container garden.  I used a half of a whisky barrel and planted organic rainbow carrots and 5 gallon buckets to plant sweet bell peppers and jalapenos.  I also got 3 huge organic beefsteak tomato plants in containers as well.  Can't wait to see how the veggies do!

I woke up feeling pretty awful.  Super sore throat, tummy ache, and stuffy nose.  I took some meds, drank a chocolate sunbutter protein shake and went to Crossfit despite my brain telling me to stay home and rest in bed.

Our warm up was .......you guessed it....running.  We ran 400 meters.  I was shocked that I was able to run the entire way and was only behind the rest of the group by about 5 seconds.  How and when did that happen?  Don't get me wrong, I was super tired and breathing like I was going to die, but I did it and kept up.  Yeehaw!  I can feel my endurance increasing and it's so exciting!

Next we did our skill set, which was deadlifts.  The first time I only used 20 lbs and was focusing more on form than weight.  Today I was able to do several sets of 150 lbs.  I know that to some that is not much weight, but for someone like me who hasn't done any type of lifting in her life except to lift food to her lips, this was quite exciting.  =)

Our WOD was 5 rounds of

25 double unders ( I had to do 75 single unders)

18 overhead kettle bell swings

12   20" box jumps (I do 15" box steps)

For some reason I had it in my head that I only had to do 3 rounds and by the end of the third round I could feel all my energy being drained away.  Catching my breath seemed almost impossible and I was drenched.  As I was finishing up the last two box steps I looked up at the white board and realized I still had 2 more rounds to go.  FUDGE!!!!  I could feel tears start creep up and told myself to just shut up and not cry and finish the flipping WOD.  I finished in 12min 21 seconds.  To say I was wiped out would be the understatement of the year.  I'm glad I went despite not feeling good this morning.  My throat still hurts like a mother, but other than that I feel fine.  This weekend will be spent outdoors so we can continue working on our back patio.  Fingers crossed I get some sun.....I'm tired of being so pale I almost look neon white.

Happy Mother's Day to all you mom's!

I want my mommy!

My husband woke me up at 5am as he was leaving for work to let me know our daughter had a temp of 103.  Seriously?  I'm starting to wonder if she is licking the handles of grocery carts and door knobs, because I swear she's been getting sick nonstop for the past few months!!  Guess it's another day of crossfit at home.

After I got my boys off to school, I took my daughter and ran to Walmart to get some fever meds and decided to see if they carried kettle bells.  They did!!  I bought a 15 lb bell and when I got home I went online and found a few at home crossfit type workouts to do at home.

Todays warm up consisted of 3 rounds of:

25 jumping jacks

10 push ups

10 squats

My WOD was 5 rounds of :

10 right hand kettle bell snatches

10 left hand kettle bell snatches

10 right hand kettle bell swings

10 left hand kettle bell swings

10 sit ups

It took me about 14 minutes to finish.  I was sweating bullets by the 4th round.  It's a gorgeous day here, maybe after the older kids get home from school I can take a quick 1 or 2 mile walk while they keep an eye on their sister and do their homework.

What I'm eating today:

Breakfast~ham and egg scramble

post workout snack~coconut milk protein shake

Lunch~large salad with pork tenderloin and homemade dressing

Dinner~homemade paleo spaghetti meat sauce over spaghetti squash and a side salad

evening snack~1 square of dark chocolate and a cup of tea

I'm totally digging the Endangered Species chocolate at the moment.
